Last weekend I went horse riding for the second time in my life. The first time, was exactly a year ago on the same horse at the same trail. Before that, I couldn’t even look at a horse without shaking in fear! To me they were just so scary and larger than life.
So how did I suddenly get the courage to get on a horse, you ask? Well, that’s quite a funny story actually. I received a voucher for two people to go on a 3 hour horse ride in Clarens, and being the bargainista that I am, I couldn’t pass on the opportunity. Together they were worth R500 and it was a trail in the mountains…I just HAD to face my fear!
At first it went a bit wobbly, but after a while I got used to it. In fact, in about 15 minutes, I was hooked! I had a super calm mare (her name is Cloudy) so it wasn’t hard for me to be calm myself. I think the beautiful surroundings contributed so much to my whole first-time experience. Perfect weather, majestic mountains and a patient trail guide…ideal!
The main reason why I am sharing this experience is because I was amazed by the powerful feeling you get when conquering your fear. After that horse ride I felt invincible, as if I could do anything.
So my challenge to you: do something you never had the courage for. Get that diploma, do bungee jumping or cut your hair! Take the risk and you will reap the reward!
Shelley from The Natural Skincare Company sent me a few goodies from the Natraloe and new Rooibos range as well as a solid perfume from Essencia (perfume review coming later).
The Natural Skincare Company manufactures a full range of natural skincare products, bodycare products and babycare products, as well as a range of natural perfumes.
They use certified aloe ferox gel and organic rooibos extract in all the skin and body care range, and jojoba oil and fractioned coconut oils as a base for our perfumes. All products are natural and free from harmful chemicals, colourants and animal products. They use essential oils only as fragance ……….there are no synthetic fragrances in any of their products.
I REALLY enjoyed theses products, here are my thoughts.
Natraloe Body Mousse
Natraloe Body Mouse (with lime oil)
This light body mousse is very suitable for summer. It’s quite thick, but once you apply it, it absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy after-feel. I read a review somewhere, where the lady found the smell to be overpowering, but I find it quite the opposite. There is a very faint scent of lime, someone even said it reminded them of “Mojitos”! The scent settles quickly and I like the summery fragrance, which is very refreshing in hot weather. It comes with a pump dispenser, so it’s easy to use too! Overall, this fits the category of a light, but nourishing summer moisturiser.(
Retails at about R75 for 200ml)
Natraloe Day Cream & Anti-Age Cream
When it comes to facial products, I am hard to please, but I was really surprised with these face cream. They both have a thick consistency, but I found the Anti-Age one to be a bit more moisturising and creamier than the normal one. The latter smells like rose geranium so I was hooked immediately. Just from my own experience, it seems to reduce pore size, but the product does not claim to do this, so maybe it’s just me! For me, the Anti-Age cream was a bit too rich, but my mom has a drier skin and she loved the moisturising abilities. She said it makes her look younger! ;)
Natraloe Regenerating Aloe Gel
“This product is essentially a treatment cream, and contains 83% pure organic aloe ferox gelly. This natural gelly has the unique ability to penetrate below the epidermis, carrying its naturally moisturising, soothing, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties to dehydrated and damaged cells, and has proven to regenerate damage cells 8 times faster than normal!”
I really like this gel. It’s so versatile; you can use it for skin disorders, pimples, hydration and even sunburn. My tube is nearly finished, and it is definitely on my purchase list. The gel does not dry sticky, and absorbs surprisingly well. Very refreshing for summer!
Organic Rooibos Eye Cream
This is a very rich, moisturising eye cream. It is a fast-absorbing light eye cream which is formulated with cell-renewing rooibos extract, eyebright and chamomile extract to help visibly repair and refresh the delicate skin around the eyes. Usually I use an eye gel, but if you are worried about wrinkles, then this would be a great product to try. I also gave this to my mom to try, and she also thinks it makes the eye area look smoother. It’s nice to see that there are truly organic rooibos products on the market as I am a firm believer in its amazing healing properties!
Shelley, thanks for letting me try these products, keep up the amazing work!
If you are on Twitter, I am sure you have already heard about the #bloggersecretsanta. The idea is simple. You get a blogger to buy a gift for. And another blogger buys something for you. And the gift must be under R100 (postage excluded). So the avoid getting something you absolutely hate, Charlotte from http://thestilettomum.wordpress.com/ asked us to do a post on what we would like to get as a gift. So any blogger who landed my name, listen up!
Awesome Goodies under R100!
So these are the things I am totally into:
Anything green/organic from Faithful-to-Nature or Greenlove.
I only use organic/green products so any things in that line would be so much appreciated!
Anything from The Victorian Garden, their stuff is awesome!
Bee Natural have lots of new flavour lip balms which I would love to try! And at R13.50, they are so affordable! (This might be helpful: I’d LOVE any organic lip balm!)
Spiezia, Oh Lief,Tranquil Beauty Treats and Balm Balm are also some of my favourites.
I also have my eye on Tip Top Nail polish. This is my favourite brand of nail polish, as it is so long lasting and free of nasties. My current “wants” includes Pot ‘O Berries, Cha Cha Cha and Fairy Dust.
I also love stationary and especially Magnetic Page Markers. They come in packs of 6 and are just so cute!! I usually alternate between reading about 3 books and magazines, so they are really useful!
Favourite colours: All shades between blue and green (including teal and turquoise) and silver.
I don’t like over the top fashion accessories and flashy things. I’m quite a plain jane, so keep that in mind! Small, earthy accessories are really my thing!
